Why Should You Consider Switching to a Solar Energy Provider in NSW?

As people and businesses evolve, they try to find ways to save money and protect their environment. Solar energy is a clean form of energy that does not emit any contaminants and toxic materials in the air, helping maintain a clean atmosphere. Australia’s National Electricity Market follows an open market model that allows consumers to choose their electricity provider.

As per recent data, coal accounts for 75% of total electricity generated in Australia, followed by gas, hydro, and wind. Australia has high solar radiation levels over large areas, making a large amount of solar energy possible. There are several solar energy providers in NSW. Here are a few reasons why you should consider switching to a solar energy provider.

Higher Minimum Solar FIT

Fit refers to feed-in tariffs. Solar energy producers offer the best feed in tariff NSW, around 6 cents per kWh (export tariff) to consumers. If you have a solar PV installation, you can benefit from high solar feed-in tariffs. Export tariff refers to an excess amount of electricity generated by your solar PV system injected into the central electricity grid. The solar energy producer will pay you in the range of 5.5 cents to 6 cents per kWh, more than coal-based electricity producers.

High Rate for the First 5kwh Generated Every Day.

NSW has a population of around 8,118,000. As per recent data, the small-scale solar system in NSW represents around 3.25GW of capacity. Unlike coal electricity generation companies, solar energy providers offer the best feed in tariff in NSW. For example, for the first 5kWh, you are paid a rate of 11 cents per kilowatt-hour up to 5 kWh. After that, you get a standard rate of 5.5c or 6 cents per kilowatt per hour.

Helps Protect the Environment

The type of electricity you use determines your carbon footprint. If your energy provider uses coal-based systems to generate electricity, you are bound to have a larger carbon footprint. According to the latest market data, 70% of the electricity generated comes from coal-based generation plants. NSW has five coal-fired plants to generate electricity.

Solar energy producers use solar energy panels to generate electricity that does not generate any greenhouse gases. NSW is experiencing a solar energy boom, and many people are switching to solar energy providers or installing a solar PV system to reduce the use of coal-based electricity. By switching to a solar energy provider, you can help protect the environment in the long run.

Best ACT Solar Feed-in Tariff.

As per recent data, NSW has approximately 400 watts of solar PV capacity instaled per capita. Australia has passed Electricity Feed-in (Renewable Energy Premium) Act 2008 that entitles the owner or tenant of the property to receive a feed-in tariff for the remaining portion of the original contract. Solar energy producers in Australia offer the best ACT solar feed-in tariff to consumers.

Many coal-based electricity providers offer ACT solar feed-in tariff of 7 cents, while leading solar energy providers offer ACT solar feed-in tariff of 9.4 cents per kilowatt-hour. If you have a solar panel on your rooftop, you can earn higher solar feed-in tariffs by switching to a solar energy producer.

To sum up, these are some of the advantages of switching to a solar energy provider in NSW.
