A Guide To The Right Sweatshirt Fit

Sweatshirts are staples in men’s wardrobes. This is because of their versatility. They are perfect for active individuals because you can wear them when you play sports or when working out. The right sweatshirt can also create a good fashion statement. You can layer it or combine it with other pieces of clothing to create a stylish look. What’s important is that you get a sweatshirt that fits well. Having an ill-fitting sweatshirt can easily ruin the fun in wearing one. It seems like many people are having difficulty finding a sweatshirt that fits well. The tips below can make it easier.

Collar

The classic sweatshirt has a round neck, making it versatile enough to be combined with all types of undergarments. If you want to have a preppy look, for example, then you can wear a polo shirt underneath and then let the collar of the shirt peek out. To look good though, the collar of your sweatshirt must not be too tight. It shouldn’t be cutting into your neck. But you should also avoid wearing a sweatshirt with a collar that is too loose. You also don’t want to look shabby. Cheap sweatshirts tend to have collars that wear out easily so it’s best to avoid them.

Shoulder Width

The perfect sweatshirt for men has the right width. This is why you should pay attention to where the shoulder seams fall when you’re shopping for a sweatshirt. The seams should lie on your shoulder bone. If the seams sit high on your shoulder then the sleeves may cut into your armpits and make you feel uncomfortable. But if the seams fall low on your shoulder, then the sweatshirt will look baggy.

Sleeves

The sleeves of the sweatshirt should have the right length and width. Sweatshirts are meant to keep you warm when the weather gets cold. This is why it’s important that the sleeves reach your wrist when you straighten your arms. If it doesn’t, then it won’t be able to do its job of keeping you warm well. But the sleeves shouldn’t be too long either or you would look silly. You should also pay attention to the width of the sleeves. They should be loose enough to be comfortable. They shouldn’t restrict your movements.

Hip and Waist

The ideal sweatshirt has a waistband that fits at the hip. It shouldn’t be too tight that you look like you have outgrown your clothes. Having a perfect-fitting waistband will create a nice drape on the sweatshirt. There should be at least 3 to 6 cm of loose fabric around your hips. Some people try to hide their tummies by wearing a loose sweatshirt but it doesn’t work.

Length

If you’re not a famous basketball star like Kyle Kuzma, then you should stay away from sweatshirts that are way too big and long. Ideally, the waistband of the sweatshirt should end just below the hip. If it reaches your thighs and covers your bottom then it’s definitely too long already.
