Kozhikode

Kozhikode is a city in Kerala that was once known as Calicut. The city was Malabar’s capital during the Zamorin dynasty 500 years ago, and is known for trading cotton and spices with Jews, Arabs, Phoenicians, and Chinese throughout history. This district, which is bordered to the west by the serene Arabian Sea and to the east by the peaks of the Wayanad hills, is a popular tourist destination with its tranquil beaches, lush green countryside, and historic sites. Vasco da Gama discovered India in 1498 and opened spice trade routes with the west when he landed on Kappad beach in Kozhikode. It is the centre for the marketing of commodities produced in Kozhikode and the nearby districts of Wayanad, Malappuram, and Kannur, such as pepper coconut, coffee, rubber, lemongrass oil, etc. The international travellers christened this district as ‘the noble emporium of India’ because it was the main business centre in Malabar and a major exporter to foreign countries.

Kovalam Beach

Kovalam is a coastal town in Kerala famous for its resorts and Ayurvedic massage centres. The town is located approximately 13 km from Thiruvananthapuram. One of the largest beaches in Kovalam is lighthouse beach, which has a 30-metre lighthouse. Hawa beach and Samudra beach are two other nearby beaches. In the 1930s, Kovalam was a fishing village, but it gained fame during the hippie era in the 1970s, and it continues to attract tourists from Israel and Europe. Kovalam also serves as a shopping destination with an array of handicrafts, wooden statues & spices that make great takeaways, in addition to Ayurvedic therapies & massages.

Wayanad

Vagamon
